Help Ms. S!

Ms. S has never been in trouble with the law before, but she is currently facing a felony for an unjust situation. She needs our help! Ms. S purchased a car from a predatory dealership. When she was unable to pay ONE car payment they repossessed the car and brought felony charges against her!

Before the car was repossessed, Ms. S paid the dealership with nearly $10,000. The dealership now has Ms. S’ $10,000, the vehicle (to resell to the next unsuspecting individual), and is using the prosecutor’s office as its personal debt collector. Ms. S’ public defender has diligently advocated to have this case dismissed but to no avail. The prosecutor has said that if Ms. S pays the $1,300 he will dismiss the charges. Unfortunately, when Ms. S was arrested she was also laid off her job and is unable to pay the remainder of the cost.

Ms. S is partnering with a legal aid attorney to see if there are any other avenues for her to challenge the dealership's predatory practices or protect future victims. But, in the meantime, we can help Ms. S get back on her feet!
