Last week, we heard from an owner who needed to surrender her 2 yr old pug because she could not afford the surgery that he required. After learning more, we realized the situation was critical because he had a foreign object that had been stuck in his intestines since August - over 2 months! During this time, he became very lethargic, suffered from recurring bouts of diarrhea, and lost 6 pounds.

Our amazing volunteer immediately sprang into action and rushed him to Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital. When he arrived at the hospital, he was lethargic, dehydrated, and had dangerously low blood pressure. Despite his critical condition, the surgeon knew removing the object was the only chance to save him so by 5 p.m., he was undergoing emergency surgery.

The object, the size of a golf ball, was fused to his intestines, requiring complex resections of both his small and large intestines. Due to the extensive and complex surgery, his recovery was quite touch and go but after three intense days of recovery, Felix pulled through! He was able to finally go to his foster home today to continue recuperating.
