Aktive Minds Foundation: Empowering Detroit’s Youth

The Aktive Minds Foundation (AMF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to transforming the lives of youth in the Detroit community. Our mission is to provide high-quality programs and essential resources to youth and families, breaking down barriers to ensure all children can participate in activities that foster personal growth and community engagement. We strive to create the ultimate, most positive childhood experiences while supporting parents and families in making that vision a reality.

Annual Programs

AMF offers a range of impactful annual programs tailored to meet the needs of children and families in the Detroit community:

• AMF Basketball Program:

  • Character-Development (Ages 6–12)

  • Leadership-Development (Ages 13–16)

• AM Visionaries Competitive Basketball Program

• Aktive Community Club: Exposing kids to a variety of field trips and activities throughout the year to keep them active and engaged.

• The Grub Club: A mentoring program giving kids diverse dining and social experiences. Teaching dining etiquette and public presentation. Integrating components of financial and business literacy to help encourage future entrepreneurs.

• Creative-Athletes Program: Taking athletes to the next level through workshops and enrichment including visual, literary, digital, and performing arts. Youth get exposed to different creative and expressive outlets with field trips and performances. We will be bringing in professionals in the branding and marketing fields to help the youth understand the creative part of the game.

• Starting Line-Ups Community Giveback: Providing a fun experience for the kids with activities including NBA 2K Tournaments, raffle giveaways, drawing contests, sporting contests, bounce houses, food, and more.

• The Eastside Back-to-School Giveaway: Supplying students with backpacks, school supplies, uniforms, entertainment, and more.

• Eastside Coat Giveaway: Distributing winter coats to ensure children are warm and prepared for the season.

• Ultimate X-Mas Experience Shopping Spree: Giving 30 children a joyful holiday shopping experience.

Expanding Opportunities

To enhance the enrichment of our youth, AMF plans to:

• Increase the number of annual field trips from 6 to 12, giving children more opportunities for social engagement and recreational experiences outside their immediate community.

• Acquire commercial vehicles to streamline transportation for programs and events and give more youth diverse experiences.

• Develop tools and resources to begin planning for a commercial building, which will serve as a centralized hub for all AMF activities and endorse the positive culture.
