Histories & Harmonies Hootenanny

Saturday, May 17th, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM EDT

In Person

Join us May 17, 2025 in Natural Bridge Station, VA for the Histories & Harmonies Hootenanny - a day of storytelling, music, art installations, and craft workshops centered around uplifting songs and stories too often left untold in our region! We'll have three stages for performances, a historical walking tour, panel discussions, creative workshops, including writing opportunities and a puppet-making station. Stay till the end for a sing-a-long with your creations and procession to a bonfire! Plus, the debut performance of original MidMountain produced folk opera Save from Oblivion, a show focused on the unsung story of Osborne Perry Anderson (Malcolm Davis), the sole Black survivor of the Harpers Ferry raiding party, as narrated by Mary Ann Shadd Cary (Jess Mullins Fullen)—his collaborator and a Black female publishing and legal pioneer. Featuring performances, exhibits, presentations or workshops from Ammonite, Harli Saxon, IONNA, Malcolm Davis, Jess Mullins Fullen, Nneka Dennie, Betsy from Mars, Soleil Ouimet, Lee Hunsaker, hanta t. samsa, Bobbi Guyton, Handmade Void, AnaMarie King, Hannah Burt+Torri Ashford, Eric Wilson, Donald Gaylord, FW Willis, Katrina Hope, Andy "River" Peterson, and more! $40 for a solo ticket with parking or $120 for four tickets and 1 parking spot. Children 12 and under free with adult ticket! Stay tuned for more details and the full schedule! Want to volunteer and help make the magic happen? Reach out to [email protected]. This event made possible thanks to the generous support of Mid Atlantic Arts and their Central Appalachian Living Traditions Program, Virginia Humanities, and the Appalachian Community Fund.
