ABOUT OUR PODCAST:

How I Got on Broadway is a new podcast that explores the real journeys of theater professionals and how they landed their first Broadway jobs. The podcast works to demystify the path to success in commercial theater, especially for individuals from historically underrepresented communities.

By pulling back the curtain on stories that are rarely told, this podcast will offer transparent conversations about what it truly takes to make it to Broadway in any capacity. Figuring out how to break into the theater industry can feel confusing and intimidating. Our aim is to make the path a little clearer.

This podcast is both an educational resource and a celebration of the many, non-linear ways people can break into the industry. There is no single path to Broadway. By sharing stories from diverse backgrounds and experiences, we hope to challenge preconceived ideas about who gets to take space and make space in the commercial theater landscape.

after an incredibly energized and fast-paced season 1, we are ready to begin the next chapter. to do that, we’re going to need some help.

we are looking to raise $2,500 to bring How I Got On Broadway back in 2026.

any funds beyond core production costs will support contingency expenses and help sustain the team through the season.

in 2025, we successfully produced 6 full episodes with the support of our first fundraiser. our lovely guests included:

Actor Nihar Duvvuri, who starred in two Tony Award-nominated plays in one season
HR Business Partners Kiah Jones & Karen Robinson, who’ve supported 150+ Broadway productions and national tours
Actor John McGinty, who has starred in 2 Tony-Award nominated productions
Recent Graduates Nia Abdullah, Michelle Cohen, & Devi Peot, who have paved their way as young professionals in producing, management, and casting
Stage Manager Cody Renard Richard, who is also a two-time Tony Award-winning Producer

HERE’S WHAT’S NEXT:

for 2026, we’re raising the stakes. our goal is to produce 8-10 episodes in season 2, including our first live audience recording.

we also plan to host community events designed to continue to foster connection, education, and access for emerging theater professionals.

this podcast exists because of community support. every contribution directly helps us continue telling these stories and making the education accessible to the next generation of artists.
