In 2023, we distributed over 19,000 basic-need items, including blankets, tents, socks, hygiene kits, sleeping bags, clothing, and more. We also collaborate with other nonprofits to connect dinner guests with on-site medical, mental health, and vision care, housing navigation, substance-use counseling, ID document recovery, and hygiene/clothing services.

YOU CAN HELP US support our guests with donations of items and funds during extreme weather events such as winter storms or heat waves, and to help individual guests who may need one-time financial support.

Advancing emotional wellness and mental health is critical to our mission. For 37 years, we have created a welcoming space where to access services and a dignified experience that leaves guests feeling valued. Often, guests visit from around Los Angeles, including service-rich areas such as Skid Row, South L.A. and West L.A., because our dinner environment is safer.

By being a consistent nightly presence for guests, we are able to deeply engage them, build trust, and organically identify the barriers they face in meeting health needs. We leverage these authentic relationships to make concierge referrals to collaborative partners providing housing navigation, hygiene and shower services, and medical, dental, vision and mental healthcare.

In 2022, we conducted an assessment among our guests to determine their greatest unmet health needs. We learned about their history engaging with the social services system and their personal preferences/needs. Mental healthcare was identified as a key priority. In 2022, we hired our first-ever Community Wellness Program Manager, who will build our capacity to effectively remove the barriers to accessing these needed services, including mental healthcare.

Hollywood Food Coalition's mission is to nourish the community by rescuing and distributing food, preparing nightly meals, and uniting efforts to achieve food equity.

Since 1987 we have provided hunger relief to unhoused and low-income neighbors through hot, healthy meals served every single night of the year, without fail. Since then, we have grown into a thriving meal service and food rescue operation providing meals and other basic necessities to food-insecure Angelenos.

When we share food we not only help with basic needs, but we also remind our guests of their fundamental humanity. We remind them that they are not forgotten, that somebody cares, and that they are still worthwhile members of the human family.

At our core, we actively seek to construct a more cohesive, just, and compassionate community. We serve any hungry person who walks through our door, with no exclusionary intake or prohibitive requirements that would turn them away.
