Perinatal psychotherapists and co-founders of Anchor Perinatal Wellness have established the Anchor Center for Perinatal Mental Health Advancement, a 501c3 nonprofit organization striving to reduce barriers to receiving critical perinatal mental health care. Anchor Perinatal Wellness (APW) has served over 350 new and expecting parents within the last 3 years, which is a proud accomplishment. However, there were many who could not access care - due to lack of childcare, transportation, technology, and funds for copays - and those people weigh heavy on our minds. With the moms who were unable to get the care they needed in mind, the Anchor Center has officially launched this fundraiser to Hold the Mothers in need of compassionate mental health care treatment, free from the constraints of time and finances.

The Anchor Center aims to provide:

Expanded free, walk-in mental health screening for pregnant and postpartum North Carolinians
Free perinatal mental health trainings for OBGYN, psychiatry, therapists, first responders, and more, to increase awareness of perinatal mental health symptoms and resources
Free childcare for those attending APW's intensive outpatient therapy program (10 hrs/week of group therapy) and childcare grants for those attending other programs
Free laptops for folks in under-resourced areas for virtual services at APW or elsewhere
Free lodging for families to remain nearby, while a loved one receives intensive or inpatient care
Grants for transportation to and from appointments
Grants for treatment costs for the uninsured and underinsured

To make this happen, the Anchor Center needs your help. This fundraiser and call to action, Holding the Mother, is in honor of Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month during the month of May. Please donate to give new and expecting moms the support that they need to quickly heal and return to their families as the parent/partner/friend/community member they want to be.
