At Big Paws of the Ozarks, an intake isn’t just paperwork, it’s a promise. A promise that home starts here. From unsafe to safe, from lonely to loved. But we can't keep that promise without the support of our community who fuel our mission.

When a dog enters our rescue, we show up every single day. We promise vaccines, vet care, and medicated baths. We promise warm beds, full bellies, and patient training. We promise a foster home ready to love them and support for that foster at every step.

We advocate when it’s hard. We push through when we’re tired. We don’t walk away, because that dog is counting on us to keep our promise. Dogs like Norm.

When Norman was surrendered, it was one of the worst starvation cases we’ve seen.

He weighed 44 lbs when a dog his size should be 80–90 lbs.

Placed with our Executive Director, Norman finally had what he needed: food, care, love… and tennis balls. He steadily gained weight, regrew his coat, and found his joy.

Now he’s adopted, going to the beach with his new mom, and “working” at a tree farm this season.

This is the life we dream about for every dog.
