The Media Career Pathways (MCP) is Hope for Providence’s flagship initiative designed to break cycles of poverty by equipping underserved youth with the tools, training, and paid experience needed to thrive in Rhode Island’s creative economy. Over the course of six months, participants gain hands-on skills in cinematography, editing, audio, and storytelling, while working on real client projects and building professional portfolios.

Beyond technical training, MCP provides mentorship, industry exposure, and job placement support that connects graduates with internships, freelance gigs, and full-time roles. With over 22% of Providence residents living in poverty and limited pathways into media careers for BIPOC youth, MCP fills a critical gap by transforming creative passion into sustainable employment and community empowerment.
