Meet the Founder: Jose Rivera - Founder & Executive Director

I've experienced food insecurity twice in my life—first as a child, and later as an adult with children depending on me. Those experiences shaped everything about HOPENEARME.

I'm building the organization I wish existed when I was that hungry kid and when I was that struggling parent. This isn't just about food—it's about restoring dignity and breaking generational cycles. As a man of faith and action, I believe families can't wait for paperwork or perfect timing. They need help now, and that's exactly what we're providing.

Our Mission

HOPENEARME exists to eliminate food insecurity by bringing groceries directly to under-served neighborhoods, starting in the Bronx.

We operate using a unique "ice cream truck model"—complete with a recognizable jingle—to alert families that fresh groceries are available. We meet families where they are, removing barriers like transportation, long lines, and stigma. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every family deserves:

Dignity - Respectful, judgment-free access to essential resources

Accessibility - Services that come to them, removing transportation barriers

Consistency - Reliable support they can count on three days per week

Quality - Nutritious groceries that truly meet their needs

**Important Note: HOPENEARME is actively submitting its 501(c)(3) application. Donations are gratefully accepted, however, contributions are not yet tax-deductible until federal nonprofit status is officially approved.

Donations will be used for 501c3 formation, groceries, vehicles, fuel, awareness efforts, donations to families, and other operation expenses as needed.
