Fall Campaign with Tall Order

This fall, the Producers of TARTUFFE are creating a Fall Campaign to support the House of the Redeemer and its mission by accepting tax deductible donations to the Redeemer.

The House of the Redeemer, a retreat house based in the Episcopal tradition, is open to all. It exists to provide “a place apart” where people of all faiths can find spiritual renewal.

Located in a landmarked building, the House of the Redeemer provides hospitality through worship, cultural, and community events.

The House also offers overnight accommodations for individuals coming to New York for retreat, nonprofit work, and medical treatment.

Originally built between 1914 and 1916 as the town residence of Ernesto G. Fabbri and his wife, Edith Shepard Fabbri, great-granddaughter of Cornelius “Commodore” Vanderbilt, the building was designed by Ernesto’s brother, Egisto Fabbri, in collaboration with Grosvenor Atterbury. Inspired by the urban palaces of Renaissance Italy, the design incorporated harmonious proportions, finely carved stonework, and authentic architectural elements collected by the Fabbris during their travels. The most remarkable of these is the Library, a 17th-century room from the Ducal Palace in Urbino, Italy. Egisto arranged for the Library’s shelves and fixtures to be shipped across the Atlantic during World War I on two separate vessels, ensuring its survival should one be lost at sea. Meticulously reassembled in the House, the Library remains its architectural crown jewel.

With its unique history, the House of the Redeemer offers a one-of-a-kind setting for spiritual retreats, conferences, meetings, weddings, and film and photo shoots.

In October, this historic venue will become the stage for The Tall Order Company’s production of Molière’s Tartuffe. Broadway legend André De Shields will headline the highly anticipated eight-week run.

As a historic site, the maintenance and restoration of the building is an ongoing process. Donations help ensure the continued work and presence of the House of the Redeemer for future generations.
