After proudly serving 21 years as a Military Police Soldier in the Army, transitioning to civilian life was more challenging than I ever anticipated. The military was part of who I was—something I hadn’t fully understood until I retired. Suddenly, I found myself struggling with a sense of purpose, feeling as though I had no place or reason to be.

That all changed when I met Britnee and began volunteering with the SD Gunner Fund. This incredible organization welcomed me with open arms, giving me a renewed sense of belonging and purpose. The SD Gunner Fund’s mission is to give back to veterans, police, firefighters, and exceptional children, providing them with service and therapy dogs that truly change lives. Being part of this mission has given me the chance to make a real difference.

This year, instead of birthday gifts, I’m asking you to consider donating to the SD Gunner Fund. The cost of training a fully trained service dog can range from $10,000 to $50,000. These dogs provide life-changing support, comfort, and even independence to those who need it most—our brave veterans, first responders, and children with unique needs.
