Huya Aniwa Institute
Dear Aniwa Community,
Today is my birthday, and I want to invite you to be part of a mission close to my heart, protecting a sacred land that is home to jaguars and over 500 species of life.
✨ The Vision
For over a decade, Aniwa has brought together some of the world’s most respected Indigenous elders, creating spaces for cultural exchange, healing, and reconnection.
Now, this work is taking root in a permanent way through the Huya Aniwa Institute.
Huya Aniwa will be a permanent home for Aniwa a place where elders can offer longer-form retreats, dietas, and deeply transformative processes that are not possible in short gatherings.
It is a sanctuary for:
Indigenous wisdom traditions
Cultural preservation and exchange
Personal and collective healing
Relearning our relationship with the Earth
🌎 The Land: La Noria, Sinaloa
Located near the Meseta de Cacaxtla Reserve, this land is:
A vital ecological corridor
Home to over 500 species
Habitat for endangered wildlife including jaguar, puma, and ocelot
A site with ancient ceremonial and ancestral significance
This region has faced deforestation and ecological degradation and now, it is being restored through Indigenous-led stewardship.
🌱 What We Are Building
Huya Aniwa is a living, breathing ecosystem of initiatives:
Reforestation & Agroforestry
Restoring biodiversity, regenerating soil, and creating fair livelihoods for local communities.
Jaguar & Wildlife Protection
Safeguarding critical habitats and water systems for endangered species.
Indigenous-Led Retreats & Dietas
A sacred space where elders guide deep healing and transformation over longer stays.
Cultural Exchange
A meeting ground for Indigenous leaders from Mexico, the Amazon, and beyond.
Nature School
A future learning center where Indigenous knowledge and science come together to guide the next generation of Earth stewards.
💧 Why This Matters Now
We are at a moment in time where humanity is being called to remember.
To restore balance.
To listen again.
To learn from the wisdom that has always been here.
Huya Aniwa is not just a place, it is a response to that call.
