Help Families Heal Through the Butterfly Fund

The Butterfly Fund was established in response to the devastating impact of high Black infant and maternal mortality rates in New Jersey. The fund was established in 2020 after the death Janaya Nelums who died just 2 weeks after giving birth to her baby boy Aasan due to her concerns being dismissed by her medical providers

This vital initiative provides direct monetary support to families experiencing the unimaginable loss of a mother due to pregnancy or birth-related complications, or a child within their first year of life. Each family receives a $2,000 unrestricted gift to help ease the burden of expenses such as bills, burial or cremation costs, and keepsake urns.
