Hydrangea Sky Movement Arts, Resident Dance Company of Old Town Center for the Arts
Dear Patrons of the Arts,
Friday November 21, and Saturday November 22, Hydrangea Sky Movement Arts will transform our local stage at Old Town Center for the Arts into a vibrant underwater world with our upcoming all-original production, "Luminescent." As both a passionate arts advocate and the director of Hydrangea Sky, I am reaching out to invite you to be part of something magical.
From the vast depths of the ocean floor to the glimmer of moonlight on its surface, audiences will be transported through earth’s hydrosphere as “Luminescent” explores the life force that nourishes all beings: Water. "Luminescent" offers an immersive exploration of water's profound life force through a breathtaking fusion of aerial dance, LED flow arts, martial arts, modern dance, and live original music.
Hydrangea Sky performs one all-original show each November at their home venue in Cottonwood, Arizona. Each show is created over the course of 1 year with collaboration between all of the company artists who conceptualize, choreograph, costume, and perform original works. “Luminescent” includes 11 multidisciplinary performing artists, 4 live musicians, 5 visual artists, pre-show stilt walkers and dancers, stage crew, aerial rigging specialists, injury prevention specialist, choreography advisor, and many others working tirelessly behind the scenes to create this production.
All of our work is human-made, by hand, with heart.
The performance will feature an extraordinary ensemble of live musicians, including four-time GRAMMY nominated harp guitarist/composer/luthier William Eaton, multi-instrumentalist and luthier Allen Ames, world percussionist Logan Turner, singer-songwriter Marie Turner, and a visual art exhibition by Featured Artist Armando Kiyama, with guest artists Mazzy Rose and Marie Turner. Each performance includes a pre-show art exhibition of original art pieces made especially for “Luminescent,” with a special hanging art installation of ‘Jellyfish’ and a ‘Coral Reef’ made from recycled, repurposed, and found materials and collected trash (turned-art) by Christine Eaton and cast.
As the resident dance company of Old Town Center for the Arts, Hydrangea Sky Movement Arts represents our community's commitment to artistic innovation and education. We are not only performers, but educators, storytellers, and community builders who create vital opportunities for local artists.
