Ferrell Hollow Farm Senior Horse Sanctuary is a registered nonprofit organization with a formidable mission. Many of our horses are of the draft breed, big and heavy boned, requiring more care and support than your average sized horse. They can easily eat a bale of hay each per day. We take care of their hoof, vet, and dental care.In 2024, we took a neglected, blind Percheron gelding (Isaac) and have given him the safety and security to thrive in his older age!

The average monthly cost per horse is between $500 and $800.
We currently have 7 senior horses in our care, and our monthly cost to care for them is $5,000!
We spend an average of 10 hours a day caring for our senior horses (70 hours per week)!

In late 2016/early 2017 Cindy rescued her first cat from a local shelter who had been placed on “death row”. Most of the cats we care for were rescued from local shelters or surrendered by owners no longer able to care for them. Due to special needs, medical issues and age are considered unlikely or unsuitable for adoption. Cindy gives them a safe and nurturing forever home. While there are a few cats here younger than 15, this is typically the age suitable for admission to our Sanctuary, any many live to the grand old age of 20+ .

We currently have 15 cats in our care, and our monthly cost to care for them is $2,500.
In 2024 we have spent $20,000 in veterinary costs for our geriatric cats to continue to address their aging medical needs and quality of life care!
We spend an average of 6 hours a day caring for our senior cats (over 40 hours per week).

Our horses and cats are older, have multiple health issues, are expensive to care for and we address all of their issues and give our unconditional love and care to them. We give them a forever home to spend the rest of their days💖

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving, held on December 3rd this year. We need to raise additional donations, so that we can have a good start going into the New Year to continue to provide all of our residents the exceptional care that they need. Financial contributions are critical to our success.
