The LegalMind Society is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, which was founded in September of 2021 by Juan Bacigalupi with the vision of offering peer support and mental health education to those in the legal community.

Living with anxiety and depression was a challenge for Juan, and he didn't know where to turn. He saw that while the Legal Assistance Programs or LAPs offered by state bars had good intentions, they were also often underfunded. He saw traditional therapists with long wait lists. And he thought there was a better way.

During the pandemic, he became a certified recovery support specialist. This peer support model became the basis of what is now the LegalMind Society. Simply put, The LegalMind Society is about lawyers helping lawyers. Together we can make the profession a healthier one, but we need your support.

Lawyers live with above-average rates of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation. There are multiple factors that contribute to this reality, but together we can help legal professionals know that they are not alone and that there is hope. But again, we need your support to be able to do that.
