Mt. Diablo Obstacle Clinic & Challenge

Mt. Diablo Obstacle Challenge (a DEHA and CMDTRA collaboration) The Challenge is CSHA sanctioned. IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Please note that this obstacle clinic and challenge will not be held in an enclosed arena. Cardinet Oaks is an open area under a grove of oak trees. All participants will ride or walk a little over 1 mile on a fire road from the staging area to the course. Car rides will be available for spectators upon request. Please be sure to bring a halter and a lead rope to tie up your horse as needed. Each participant and attendee must sign liability release forms for the following entities: DEHA (Diablo Equestrian Heritage Association) CMDTRA (Concord Mt. Diablo Trail Ride Association) Please download and bring signed copies for faster check-in. Additional copies will be available at the registration table. ** CLINIC - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28TH Rene Turnbull (Head Coach) This clinic will focus on developing and or enhancing skills that will help you successfully complete in the obstacle challenges. Riders will be in groups of 4 to 5 and will negotiate 8 coached obstacles. We will be using a "shot-gun" start to get as many folks started on the obstacles. Anticipated Event Schedule: 7:30 am– Registration Opens (follow signs to registration) 8:30 am – All riders leave registration area for Cardinet Oaks 9:30 am– Rider's meeting 10:30 am- Rider groups on course While waiting, riders can have lunch, do a short ride or just hang out. - Clinic (All levels except Youth and Mini-Youth) $20 per horse/rider combination - Clinic (Mini-youth and Youth - 17 and under) $50 All registrations will be done online with registration closing the Thursday, September 26th at 6 PM. Sorry, no day-of registrations. ** CHALLENGE - SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29TH - Registration limited to 35 riders Rene Turnbull (Head Judge). NOTE: (These times are subject to change. All registrants will receive the final schedule well in advance of the actual event) 7:30 am– Registration Opens (follow signs to registration) 8:00 am - Judges leave to walk the course 8:30 am – All riders leave registration area for Cardinet Oaks 9:30 am– Rider's meeting 10:30 am- First rider on course While waiting, riders can have lunch, do a short ride or just hang out. All registrations will be done online with registration closing the Thursday, September 26th at 6 PM. Sorry, no day-of registrations. We will be limiting the event to 35 riders (first-come-first serve). Challenge classes: - Mini Youth (10 and under) $20 per horse/rider combination - Youth (11—17) $50 - Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced $70 - Non-Competitor Participant $50 Fees include a $14 Equine Drug Test and $5 fee to CSHA. ** CAMPING: Onsite camping with covered pipe stalls is available Friday and Saturday nights on the CMDTRA grounds.
