Diablo Obstacle Challenge (a DEHA, CMDTRA & CSHA collaboration) Please join us as we challenge our horses and ourselves over 12 obstacles under a canopy of stately Oak trees on beautiful Mt. Diablo. This event will be held in historic Cardinet Oaks located on the Concord Mt. Diablo Trail Ride Association's property. Obstacles will be made primarily from natural materials against a backdrop of lovely views. This event is CSHA sanctioned. IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Please note that this obstacle challenge will not be held in an enclosed arena. Cardinet Oaks is an open area under a grove of oak trees. All participants will ride or walk a little over 1 mile on a fire road from the staging area to Cardinet Oaks. There are some slight uphill and downhill grades. Car rides will be available for spectators upon request. Please be sure to bring a halter and a lead rope to tie up when the course overview takes place first thing in the morning. Judges: Rene Turnbull (Head Judge). Anticipated Event Schedule: NOTE: (These times are subject to change. All registrants will receive the final schedule well in advance of the actual event) 7:30 am– Registration Opens (follow signs to registration tents) 8:00 am Judges leave to walk the course 8:30 am – All riders leave registration area for Cardinet Oaks 9:30 am– Rider's meeting 10:30 am- First riders on course Additional Notes: - Riders on course will be in groups of 4. There will be 3 groups at any one time when course is in full use. - Course expected to take 45 minutes from start to finish (12 obstacles) - While waiting, riders can have lunch, do a short ride or just hang out. - 45 minutes after last rider awards are handed out.00 - All registrations will be done online with registration closing the Thursday before. No day-of registrations. We will be limiting the event to 40 riders (first-come-first serve). There will be 6 classes: - Mini Youth (10 and under) $20 per registrant - Youth (11—17) $65 per registrant - Novice $70 per registrant - Intermediate $70 per registrant - Advanced $70 per registrant - Non-Competitor Participant $50 per registrant - Fees include a $14 Equine Drug Test and $5 fee to CSHA. Each participant and attendee must sign liability release forms for the following entities: DEHA (Diablo Equestrian Heritage Association) CMDTRA (Concord Mt. Diablo Trail Ride Association) CSHA (California State Horsemen's Association) Please download and bring signed copies for faster check-in. Additional copies will be available at the registration table. AWARD CEREMONY to immediately follow the event. SATURDAY NIGHT DINNER: Quarter pound hamburgers with the fixings available for $10 (must be pre-purchased at registration) Pick up at the clubhouse kitchen and take to the communal BBQ to grill to your taste. No Host Bar with Live Band at the Clubhouse that night! ONSITE CAMPING: Onsite Camping is available for both Friday night and Saturday night on the CMDTRA grounds.
