Portland Urban Coyote Project

100% of your donation goes directly to supporting the Portland Urban Coyote Project (Thank you, EZRA Foundation)

The Portland Urban Coyote Project is a community science and education project. Our mission is to understand how people and coyotes interact and to help the community learn about our coyote neighbors.

We achieve our mission by:

  1. Collecting, mapping, and analyzing coyote sightings in the Portland metropolitan area and sharing the results with the scientific community and general public
  2. Providing free, accessible, and evidence-based information about living with coyotes

Your gift supports:

  • Maintaining the website, including keeping the map, research snapshots, and educational materials (tutorial, fact sheets, curriculum guide, workbook, etc.) up-to-date
  • Creating new materials and repackaging information in a variety of bite-sized and accessible formats to reach the widest audience possible
  • Managing social media accounts and email
    • Proactive sharing of pictures and educational materials
    • Responding to community questions about coyotes through email, social media, and phone calls
  • Supporting the wider community
    • Distributing educational materials around the PMA proactively and by request (e.g., schools, libraries, local businesses)
    • Applying for and managing small grants for physical materials to distribute
    • Coordinating/visiting schools, neighborhood associations, and other local groups and venues for in-person presentations
  • Research, collaboration, and discovery
    • Analyzing, summarizing, and disseminating basic project findings
    • Applying for grants to extend and deepen research projects associated with the PUCP
    • Coordinating data sharing and collaboration with other researchers
