John, Lauren, and Caleb Browning are excited to raise awareness for ichthyosis! There are 28+ types of ichthyosis but zero FDA-approved treatments, let alone cures. That’s why it’s so important for us to press forward with research! In the last 5 years alone we have discovered 5 new genes causing ichthyosis. About 200 babies are born annually in the US with moderate to severe ichthyosis. That number might be much larger, as we are currently limited to only people with insurance—again, we need more funding to improve access to healthcare. What does FIRST do for patients? FIRST has a Registry with Yale that gives people a complimentary genetic diagnosis. Your $300 donation covers one diagnosis! FIRST also has a grant program that gives people free window unit ACs. Your $200 donation could buy an AC. Additional programs fund college scholarships, programs, and financial aid for families.  FIRST is the only global organization doing all these things for ichthyosis.
