Help LHRR Get a Truck
This is Katie, president of Layla’s Heart Ranch and Rescue a 501c3 dog rescue and animal sanctuary with a 100 percent save rate. We rescue those that no others will and our rescue cannot catch a break. As I am sitting here writing this right now I am trying to warm up from the freezing rain and cold, getting ready to head back out. See I have to walk from the very front of our new property where the water is to the very back where the kennels are. (We do not have water lines throughout the property yet, just at the very front). 1447 feet with holes in my boots through puddles left behind from the freezing rains yesterday with 29mph winds chilling me to my very bones to get water to the dogs. My hands are almost frozen solid it feels like they could literally break off.
Tears are streaming down my face right now as my frozen hands barely gripping the phone are writing these words. Our truck went out last night. We knew it was on its last leg, but to blow up during inclement weather while isolated on the new ranch in the middle of nowhere certainly wasn’t something we were/are prepared for. The rescue is split up right now. Myself, my son and half our animals are on the new property and my dad is on the old property with the other half. Our van blew up earlier this week and we have been blessed to have just purchased another one. Now my dad has a way to bring animals up to the new ranch as we have a week to be off the old property. He has a way to get propane and gas to keep himself and the animals there warm. I am stranded up here. No way to haul water to the dogs, the horse, the pigs, etc. No way to get gas and propane. No way to get to a hospital if there is a need. Stranded.
My dad cannot come up everyday as we are 2.5 hours apart, one trip takes all day and we have animals to take care of. We need a truck and we need one fast! We do not need anything fancy. Just something that works, will last more than a couple of months, that can haul a trailer.
It seems like with each win Layla’s Heart gets we have astronomical setbacks. I don’t know why, but I do know we won’t ever give up and we love our rescues and will do anything for them, including sacrificing boots for us knowing our feet will be frozen to get propane for them. This rescue sacrifices daily and we need your help.
We rescue the unwanted, the homeless, the “aggressive” the behavior cases, the misunderstood, the ones no one else will save. We need you, they need you. We won Ginger’s freedom earlier this week and we could not be prouder and now we need your help. Please, please if you can donate we would be beyond appreciative. I know my frozen body would be grateful to have a vehicle to haul water. Hauling water on foot takes time away from spending time with and training the animals.
I feel like we are being challenged and we are fighting tooth and nail to rise to every challenge and overcome. If you can please donate so we can get a truck, there are no words for the gratitude that we have in our hearts for your generosity.
Thank you!
