It's the Firefly Ice Hole infrastructure fundraiser! After many years of giving away ice cubes at Firefly from a pile on the ground in a muddy kiddy pool, I think it's time for us to graduate to having an effective ice storage and distribution center. I want to buy one of those commercial ice freezers for Firefly. They cost between $3,000 and $4,000.
I talked with the ice vendor, and I was like, "if I were to buy one of those ice freezers, would you be interested in using it for the rest of the year?" and she was like "yes!" so I'm in talks with the ice vendor to pick out a freezer that we can use at Firefly that will also work for her for year-round use. This arrangement means that we won't be responsible for storing, transporting, or maintaining the freezer - we can just buy it and get to use it for Firefly.
Would you like to contribute to the ice freezer fund? This is a one-time purchase that will benefit us at this firefly and all future ones, allowing us to increase the level of civility and cleanliness around ice distribution, and to keep the ice cold between deliveries so that people won't have to rush to get ice right when it is delivered - we will be able to just pick up ice from the freezer when we need it.
