WHAT IS ICTHUS?

Icthus is a ministry that helps young people living in poor communities throughout Latin America. It is a club-type program similar to Boy & Girl Scouts and Awanas for children and youth, which builds Christian character, skills, and good habits.

Dear Friend,

I hope you are as excited as I am to be celebrating the 57th year of Icthus in Latin America. Will you celebrate with me by giving the best type of birthday gift to young people?

What is that? It's anything you do to help a child learn to love the Lord and their neighbors as themselves. This impacts their whole lives and makes families, communities, countries, and the world better.

Your birthday donation (by clicking the yellow button) will provide the Icthus ministry to help children develop Christian character. It will also help provide compassionate aid to Icthus children of poor families.

As one of the co-founders, it seems like it was just yesterday (not 57 years ago) when the Lord guided friends and me to start this ministry in Latin America for places where the poverty is so extensive that there is very little to help young people grow.

It has been the greatest adventure of my life to work in this ministry, first with such fine Christians to start it and then, as it grew, to work with friends like you and thousands of leaders who minister to children, even in the midst of a devastating pandemic that is more serious in Latin America. The Lord extended and grew this ministry beyond our imagination.

THE ICTHUS MODEL

Using this model, since 1964, the Icthus family of supporters and leaders has discipled over 120,000 children, partnering with churches and organizations of all denominations in 14 countries. When a child or youth goes to an Icthus group, he'll find a safe and loving environment where he'll learn to have a relationship with God and to love and serve his neighbors as he loves and takes care of himself.
