Our friend R has recently been arrested for stealing a bottle of hand sanitizer. Originally, their bail was set at $5,000, but it since has been lowered to $1,000. Unfortunately, their queer identity has made them a target for harassment and abuse in jail. R has been on  the street for approximately 2 years after leaving their physically abusive ex husband. This offense is weighted as a second offense as they previously stole food while hungry.
