The current system of kidney transplant care, and the management of virtually all other chronic conditions, has failed to deliver results at a suitable pace or impact. We are now on the verge of transforming care and the health system for (and with) our patients. Through the collaboration of leading medical centers and patient involvement in IROC, we can improve outcomes together.

IROC has made great strides as a collaborative due to investments by the sites and generous philanthropic support from patients, families, and friends. Together we are embarking on a journey that we hope will lead to a world where children with end-stage renal disease achieve health, longevity, and quality of life equivalent to the general population and where children and their families in rural Montana can have access to the same knowledge and care as a child located steps away from the most advanced health center.

About IROC

Our learning network started in 2016 on a mission to partner with patients with a kidney transplant and their families to improve health, longevity, and quality of life.

We collaborate with patients, families, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers from the most advanced pediatric healthcare organizations in the United States to rapidly solve difficult problems and improve health outcomes by sharing data, implementing quality improvement methods, designing and disseminating innovative research, and creating new standards of care.

Our Priorities

IROC has focused on addressing elements of its “Optimal Outcome” framework, a composite metric of clinical health measures. Currently, IROC is dedicated to three specific priorities:

Increasing appropriate blood pressure measurement and control
Reducing acute allograft rejection
Improving quality of life for patients and caregivers
