Carlton M. Berg, age 83, of Hinsdale, IL, passed away May 29, 2026. Carlton was the loving husband of Bonnie Jean Berg, nee Scarratt; loving father of Andrew Forest Berg and Derek W. (Rebecca) Berg; cherished grandfather of Cecilia and Colton Berg; dear brother of Barbara (Mark) Heike, David (Linda), Bradley (Terry) and William (Darcy) Berg; dear brother-in-law of Mary Jane Jenkins; fond uncle of Elizabeth and Scott Davis and their children Matthew, Abby, Michael, and Rachel.

Born November 12, 1942, Carlton was a brilliant and quietly remarkable man. He held an MBA from the University of Chicago along with engineering degrees from the University of Alabama and the University of Missouri, and early in his career contributed to the space program through Brown Engineering in Huntsville. His true calling was as a project manager overseeing major building and infrastructure projects at Chicago's leading hospitals - work that drew on both his engineering mind and his gift for bringing complex undertakings to completion. Later in life, he poured those same skills into the Union Church of Hinsdale, devoting countless hours to serving on its Buildings and Grounds team. he loved solving problems and putting his engineering mind to work in service of a place he cared deeply about.

A craftsman and proficient woodworker, Carlton loved working with natural wood and built cabinets, furniture, and a dollhouse for his granddaughter. He loved to fish in Canada and faitherfully worked his daily Sudoku. Through not a musician himself, he was his sons' greatest champion - proudly supporting and encouraging Andrew's and Derek's musical careers at every turn. Late in life, having never so much as hummed at home, he surprised his family by joining the Jolly Boys singing group and donning the signature red jacket. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather - a fixer, a builder, and a man whose dignity ran through everything he touched.

Funeral Service Saturday, June 6, 10:00 AM at Union Church of Hinsdale, 137 South Garfield, Ave, Hinsdale, IL. Interment Service Sunday, June 7, 2:30 PM at Hoyle Family Cemetery, McNabb, IL.
