Local news needs your support

For months now, InMaricopa has been working daily to cover one of the biggest stories – maybe the biggest – in generations. The novel coronavirus pandemic has dramatically changed lives – from Madrid to Miami to Maricopa.

We have made it our priority to tell the local story of the public health crisis: the latest information on federal, Arizona and Maricopa city government response; the drastic effect on educating our children and the creativity and dedication to maintain learning at home; its effect on you and your family, and the information you need to cope and stay safe.

For 16 years, InMaricopa has told the story of this community by focusing on one thing – you. That is more important right now than it has ever been as lives turn upside down and the economy suffers. We have written about what we are doing to promote a strong “Maricopa Comeback” by our businesses and how commitment to local news is a community treasure. Beyond our news coverage, we have distributed face masks to the public (and will do so again Wednesday morning) and set up an impromptu food pantry at our offices to help feed the hungry.

Tuesday is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving that will rally philanthropic support in an effort to ease the economic impact of the pandemic, which has already been particularly costly for local news organizations. In fact, many will change the name of the effort to Giving News Day in an effort to attract donors and financial supporters of local news.

As we remain committed to providing you the best local news coverage of the pandemic and its impact on all Maricopans, we hope you’ll help us to expand our COVID-19 reporting. We are partnering with the Local Media Association’s foundation to ask our readers to help with a tax-deductible donation at InMaricopa.com/LocalCoverage.

Please give today.
