Independent Shakespeare Co. (Indie Shakes) proudly presents the annual Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival—the largest and most successful theater event of its kind in Los Angeles. Beyond the Festival, we also produce new works and offer exciting classes at the Indie Shakes Studio within the Atwater Arts + Innovation Complex.

A whopping 80% of our funding comes from generous supporters like YOU!

Many people assume that, because our festival takes place in Griffith Park, it must be fully funded by the city. However, that’s not the case. While we receive some government and foundation support, it only makes up 20% of our festival budget.
