In these complex times, it is more important than ever to have a local news source you can trust.

At the Tampa Bay Times, we have an unwavering commitment to pursuing the truth and telling stories that matter.

Consider these recent examples:

  • Across a series of harrowing and groundbreaking stories on hurricane risk, Tampa Bay Times journalists Zachary T. Sampson and Langston Taylor demonstrated why storm flooding could be so devastating to our region — just months before Hurricane Ian decimated part of Florida’s Gulf Coast. Readers told us that our coverage has changed the way they will respond to future storms.
  • Reporter Bethany Barnes revealed how a high school teacher in Hillsborough County had traumatized his students, bullying them over a period of decades, while the school district let him keep teaching. Afterward more students came forward and parents demanded the district investigate.
  • Reporters Colleen Wright and Jack Evans found that a St. Petersburg neighborhood had been left alone to deal with toxic fumes choking its residents. Our journalism prompted community outcry and demands for the city to address it.

There are so many facets to the journalism at the Tampa Bay Times. Our Life & Culture team keeps you in the know about the best restaurants, exhibits and places to relax and have fun. Our expert Sports reporting team covers the Rays, Lightning, Bucs and our major college programs from every conceivable angle – on and off the field. And our photography, video and engagement teams help our coverage hit home, infusing stories with humanity and character.

The journalists who make up our newsroom are determined to hold the powerful to account and give voice to the voiceless. Keeping you informed is our primary mission.

We hope you will consider supporting us during our annual weeklong fundraising drive through May 21.

Our target this year is $75,000, enough to pay the salary of one full-time reporter, plus fund our newsroom’s ability to obtain documents and data for the rest of the year.

Your contributions are tax-deductible. And you can double your impact with a matching gift from your employer.

Thank you for considering our organization and the work we do to serve the Tampa Bay community.
