When people hear about Haiti, the news often focuses on poverty, disasters, or unrest. But those headlines don’t tell the whole story. Behind the scenes are families full of love, faith, and determination—people who work hard each day to provide for their children and hold on to hope.

Life in Haiti is not easy. Most families spend nearly 70% of their income just on food, leaving little for a home, medical care, or school. Education is a luxury many can’t afford. With few public schools, parents must pay for their children to attend private school, and most simply don’t have the means. As a result, only a small number of children make it past elementary school, and many grow up unable to read or write.

Yet, when you walk into a classroom supported by Samaritans Heart Ministries, you see something beautiful—children with bright eyes and eager hearts, soaking up every lesson. They want to learn. They dream of a better future.

One of the greatest challenges, however, is finding and keeping qualified teachers. With the current crisis, many teachers have gone months without pay or left to find other work just to feed their families. Through our Sponsor a Teacher program, Samaritans Heart Ministries helps ensure that teachers receive a fair wage and training to provide students with the best education possible.
