Spotlight is a pop-up event, held on the first Thursday of each month from April - November 2025.

This pop-up gallery show will feature a curated selection of artworks from various artists, providing a dynamic space for creative expression. We invite artists and artisans working in all mediums. We plan to host an opening reception featuring live music, refreshments, and opportunities for artists to engage with attendees. This is a chance to network, make connections, and celebrate the arts together.

Whether you are an emerging talent or an established artist, we encourage you to apply and showcase your work!

Call for Artists

The Chewelah Creative District and the Chewelah Arts Guild are thrilled to announce an open call for artists to participate in the upcoming Spotlight Gallery shows during Chewelah’s First Thursdays Art Walk. This is a unique opportunity to share your artistic vision with a wider audience and engage with a vibrant arts community. This event aims to celebrate creativity, diversity, and the power of art to inspire and connect people. Emerging Artists and Artisans are encouraged to apply.

Event Details:

Date: First Thursdays April 2025 through November 2025
Location: The Spotlight Gallery, located in the Aaron Huff Memorial Building, Main Street, Chewelah Washington
Theme: A celebration of creativity

Eligibility:

Open to all artists and artisans, regardless of experience level. Artists may submit up to 12 pieces for consideration.

Submission Guidelines:

To ensure a smooth selection process, please follow these guidelines for submissions:
Digital Images: Submit high-quality digital images of your work. Please ensure that the files are in JPEG or PNG format.
Artist Statement: Include a brief artist statement (250 words max) that describes your work, your artistic process, and what inspires you. This is a chance to share your vision and engage the audience with your story.
Resume: (optional) A current resume artistic of your experience, exhibitions, and any relevant accomplishments.
Submission Process: Email your complete submission package to sgg@chewelahcreates.org by February 28th, 2025. In the subject line, please include "Spotlight Gallery Submission”, your name, and your preferred method of contact.
Not Digital? Please mail your package to Chewelah Creative District 214 E Main Avenue, Chewelah WA. 99109, or drop your package by the Trails End Gallery at 204 E Main in Chewelah.

Selection Process:

We will review all submissions and select works based on craftsmanship, creativity, originality, and alignment with the theme (if applicable). Selected artists will be notified by February 15th, 2025, and will receive further details about the exhibition.

Exhibition Details:

All works must be ready for display (framed, mounted, or otherwise prepared).
Artists are responsible for delivery, set-up and pick-up of their artworks before and after the event.
Artists need to remain with their work during the First Thursday Art Walk, 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
If your work is for sale, please indicate your pricing, and note that we encourage a 10% donation from sales to support the Spotlight Gallery.
