Food Drive to Help Asylum Seekers in our Community

NCJW Colorado's Action Team, with guidance from the Colorado Hosting Asylum Network (CHAN), is hosting a food drive to help provide culturally-relevant food products for two families working with CHAN - a family from Guatemala and a family from Afghanistan. Asylum seekers are prohibited from working for extended periods, making it difficult to support themselves or their families while they wait.  Providing food products that can be made into meals reminiscent of these families' homeland is a welcome gift to those who come to the United States seeking asylum and better lives.

Assisting with food is a time-honored Jewish tradition that is easy enough to do and much appreciated by the recipients.  Chaired by Leslie Tjarks, this drive will last through the month of July.
