Providing Quality Child Care: Three Child Development Centers located in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. In 2020, the Ann Arbor Y provided essential workers high-quality childcare during the Governor’s Stay Home, Stay Safe Executive Order and reopened to other families when the order was lifted. The Y continues to provide high-quality childcare as the community continues to reopen using evidence-based curriculum with all centers.

Healthy Outdoor Time: The Y will offer an overnight camp experience at Camp Al-Gon-Quian in northern Michigan and day camp experiences in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and Camp Birkett in Pinckney. In-person and virtual youth-led teen programs such as the Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) engages teens in climate change initiatives and service-learning projects.

Access to Healthy Foods: The Ann Arbor YMCA continues support of access to healthy foods in 2021 with the expansion of food distribution and support for families, individuals and youth throughout Washtenaw and Southern Livingston Counties. In 2020, 400,000 pounds of food was distributed in partnership with the USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box program.

Youth Water Safety: Safety Around Water (SAW) teaches youth the importance of water safety at unguarded swimming pools throughout Washtenaw County. Swimming is an essential life skill as one is never more than six miles form a body of water in Michigan.

Supports YMCA lifeguards, instructors, materials and transportation costs for a one-week session of the free Safety Around Water program at unguarded apartment complex pools in Washtenaw County.

Sends a child to Camp Al-Gon-Quian for one week where they can experience teamwork, make new friends and build skills.

Supports one day camp registration for a week this summer.
