Protect The Youth Solidarity Fund

According to a published study by The National Research Center of DV on Violence Against Women “Economic Stress and DV,” there is a strong inverse relationship between financial status, and risk of (gendered) victimization. “When social support for survivors and victims of abuse are weak or tenuous—they are more likely to enter into or remain in insecure, unsafe, or harmful situations. The lack of tangible aid from social support groups, may reinforce the survivors' isolation” The report further examines that social support networks also impact victim’s physical and psychological health, which in turn affect their employability and financial stability. Feminism at basis is the advocacy of equality of the sexes. Advocating for local youth survivors to meet their material needs mitigates sexism and fascism, in a culture/society that systemically hyper objectifies and exploits poor and working class gendered persons/bodies. Community care and safety at bare minimum, is fully supporting the agency of our innocent and vulnerable. We acknowledge that our current goal of 3.5k will require the support from a wide range of persons and organizations. Local and broader community! Funds will be divided equally among survivors who spoke out during this year’s closing of Enero at Centro. Funds will cover lost wages, transportation, attorney fees, and services towards emotional and energetic wellness such as limpia and therapy.
