We have been informed that the farmers in Western NC need hay for their starving livestock since their hay was either washed away in the flood or is of no use because of the mud engulfing it. The livestock cannot be sold because the farmers have no way to transport them to market and moreover, the market barns were destroyed. Some animals are being shot to prevent them from starving to death.
A friend of The Church of the Advent is using his a semi truck and flatbed trailer to transport hay to save livestock in Western NC. The hay is being donated by local NC farms, but the fuel and related costs of transportation are expensive. The Church of the Advent Parish Council has approved a $750 donation and is issuing this appeal to the larger community. If we can raise an additional $1,850 we can cover the cost of transporting two tractor trailer loads of hay to these desperate farmers. In the event donations exceed our goal funds will be used for additional loads of hay and other hurricane-related relief as approved by the Parish Council.
