James loves his AffloVest

James is our firstborn and your typical active 7-year-old except he fights cystic fibrosis (CF).

CF, a genetic disease that causes thick mucus throughout the lungs and digestive system, is an invisible disease. In other words, you cannot tell if someone has the disease just by looking at them. However, people with CF fight its effects every day. James (and those with CF) must cough up mucus daily to clear his lungs. This helps him breathe more clearly and reduces the chances of developing potentially devastating related illnesses.

We all joined BreatheStrong+, a program run by Miles for Cystic Fibrosis, in 2023. BreatheStrong+ offers education, motivation and incentives for families affected by CF to make healthy habits part of their lives. James received a step tracker and earned points for being active! We applied for James to be considered for an AffloVest, a mobile airway treatment therapy that would enable him to get his "shake-shake" while on the go! James earned the points needed (by being active and making sure he got his steps in every day) to qualify for consideration and he was selected to receive an AffloVest in December.

We have big goals! We want to raise enough funds to support SEVEN Exercise Grants. Why SEVEN? Because James just turned 7 and Alexia just turned X7!
