Inspired by a true family story set in Seattle, graphic novelist Josh Tuininga examines Sephardic Jewish immigration to the United States and the relationship between Japanese and Jewish Americans living side by side during Japanese incarceration. This is perhaps the first Sephardic Jewish graphic novel and features language in Ladino.

Our speaker panel includes Stan Shikuma Co-Chair of Tsuru for Solidarity Seattle, Japanese American social justice advocates working to end detention and support immigrant and refugee communities; Marlene Motola, a Sephardic Jewish community member who grew up locally, and Andrea Soroko Naar, co-founder of JCIJ.

Join us to examine how ideas of community and solidarity bridge to immigrant communities today. JCIJ will share about efforts to support newly arrived migrants and how we can come together to take action for immigrant justice.
