This scholarship, administered through the Dr. Tyre’ Jenkins Legacy Foundation, is awarded annually to students who demonstrate leadership potential, academic promise, and a commitment to serving others—values that Baba and Mildred Jenkins lived out daily.

The Dr. Tyre’ Jenkins Legacy Foundation is rooted in work that began nearly a decade ago through mentorship and educational advocacy in Franklinton, Louisiana. What started as a local effort to support young people through academic enrichment, guidance, and care for the whole person has grown into a national vision centered on education, mentorship, and service. The scholarship bearing Baba and Mildred’s name is one of the foundation’s most meaningful initiatives, ensuring their legacy continues to uplift future generations.

This fundraiser campaign is led by the children and grandchildren of Lester “Baba” and Mildred Jenkins as a collective act of remembrance and investment. Our goal is to raise $4,500 toward the scholarship fund, demonstrating family unity and shared commitment to honoring their lives through impact. Contributions may be made directly or through shared outreach to friends, colleagues, and community members who believe in the mission.

All funds raised will directly support scholarship awards and educational resources for students, including financial assistance and technology needed for college success. In 2026, the scholarship will expand to a national level, allowing students across the United States to apply and benefit from this enduring legacy.
