Peanut had emergency surgery this week -- can you help us afford it?

Peanut is a 4 year old stray kitty who came to us to be treated for mastitis after she gave birth outdoors and tragically lost her kittens to illness after only a few weeks. She definitely had a home at some point but somehow found herself living in a feral cat colony with a broken hip that will require FHO surgery to fix. In the meantime, she is receiving pain meds. She was also very sneezy and snotty when she arrived to rescue but we hoped some antibiotics would clear up her upper respiratory infection. They helped at first, but unfortunately, Peanut's health detriorated rapidly this week. Literally overnight, she developed severe congestion with bloody mucus and pus that caused her great difficulty breathing, eating, and swallowing. She was continually pawing at her face in extreme discomfort and drooling profusely. We brought her to the vet immediately, and because she was in so much distress, she had an emergent otoscopy and rhinoscopy -- scoping her ears and nose. Multiple polyps (noncancerous growths) were found blocking her ears and nasal passages. These growths were causing the severe infection and trouble eating and breathing which had now reached a crisis point. It took over 2 hrs to remove a large amount of infected debris from her ears and throat and to remove as much of the polyp tissue as could be safely accessed in order to open up her airways.

Peanut is back in her foster home recovering from this arduous surgery. As the swelling goes down, her ability to eat and breathe properly should be restored. We are so thankful to our amazing vet team for going above and beyond to help her on such short notice. However, we were completely unprepared for this $1335 emergency. We have $833.63 in our bank account right now and of that, $350 is earmarked for Paul, who is scheduled for important bloodwork to recheck his thyroid levels and kidney function, and $283 is earmarked for Winston, who is nearing the end of his FIP treatment and needs bloodwork to ensure that he is OK to stop his meds. If these were just wellness exams, we would skip them, but because these guys are being treated for disease, we can't just leave them hanging. But we also need to pay Peanut's bill.

It's a big ask, but you always come through for the cats in our care. Any amount helps us survive as a rescue to fight another day for these cats in need. We are, as always, so grateful for your support!
