TUESDAY, OCT. 4TH BENEFITING TEACHERS' TREASURES

Bruce Kidd is challenging (in the best possible way) JMV to a “free throw shoot-off” to raise money for teachers and JMV’s favorite nonprofit – Teachers’ Treasures. The “throw” down is a challenge of 100 free throws – the one who makes the most successfully – gets a free steak dinner from Sullivan's paid for by the loser. BUT, we want your help to add to the fun and FUNdraising.

“Throw” a few dollars to the player you want to see win. Make an initial pledge donation to whoever you believe will win! Once the competition is over, you can make your full donation (free throws made multiplied by your original pledge amount). If you'd like to make a one time full donation, that is also fine. These dollars will be used to provide free school supplies to Indy’s area schools – it helps the teachers not spend their own money for supplies for their kids and helps the kids do their best in school.

Thanks to Bruce Kidd with Concerts for a Cause and JMV for having some big hearted fun to help raise awareness about Teachers’ Treasures and hopefully, some well-needed dollars too!

About Teachers' Treasures

The Need

Every day at public, private, charter, and parochial schools located throughout Marion County, children of all ages attend class without the most basic supplies they need to get a good education. Dedicated teachers are often willing to pay for these much needed supplies out of their own pockets to make sure the kids in their classrooms have the necessary tools to learn. On average, teachers spend $800-$1200 a year on school supplies for their students.

Our Answer

Teachers’ Treasures, in partnership with local businesses, charitable foundations, neighborhood organizations and individual contributors, helps fill this need by operating a volunteer-based “Store for Teachers.” Donated educational supplies and other materials are distributed via this unique conduit to teachers for the benefit of their students. We serve teachers from any school (public, private, charter, or parochial) in Marion County and the immediately surrounding school districts with 60% of more of the student population on the free or reduced lunch programs are eligible.
