What’s Your Why?

GivingTuesday, a globally recognized day of giving, is Dec. 3. On that day, and in the days leading up to it, JPF staff is giving back by collecting basic supplies for rescue dogs and cats, those furry friends who give us so much joy and soothe our souls.

We hope that your GivingTuesday plans include the Jordan Porco Foundation (JPF) with a gift to support our life-saving signature program, Fresh Check Day (FCD). In addition to your support, we also hope you share “What’s Your Why,” why JPF matters to you, in the public comment box that pops up after you donate.

JPF staff has chosen to collect donations for two local (Hartford, CT area) animal rescue nonprofits because animals rescue us and are a source of therapy for many students who attend FCD, JPF's uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event on 200-plus college campuses in 45 states.

In addition to interactive booths, free food, music and other activities, campuses have included dogs, goats, cows, ducks, rabbits, and ponies as pet therapy.

FCD has been recognized as a best practice by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center and is included in its Best Practices Registry.
