Giving Tuesday

This Giving Tuesday is incredibly important to us, as we truly cannot accomplish this vital work without your support.

Many challenges arise behind the scenes at a sanctuary – from animals falling ill to the rising costs and or scant availability of essential supplies to sanctuary maintenance.

Additionally, our advocacy efforts are not always publicly shared, such as assisting other sanctuaries and addressing urgent rescue situations.

This year, Oscar transported six pigs from a large hoarding case in Connecticut to Ithaca, New York. Many came together to help the nearly fifty animals find sanctuary. He also helped relocate a cow from Litchfield, CT, to another sanctuary in Vermont. This cow had been lonely after losing her sister, and since cows are social animals, it was imperative to ensure she was placed with others in a supportive environment. We’re constantly receiving calls, texts, emails, and messages on social media to help rehome animals for various reasons. It is a heartbreaking endeavor to try to find them all homes as the wish list is longer than the reality of who can take in these sentient beings, who want to feel safe and cared for.

This is why we are continually engaging with numerous animal advocates to widen our impact of compassionate living. This year, we aim to bring Gene Baur, the founder of Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, New York to our sanctuary and various locations in Connecticut to raise awareness about the welfare of Farmed Animals and how we can advocate for them. Gene has been instrumental in propelling this mission forward as he paved the way for Farm Animal Sanctuaries to exist and thrive.

As a partner of Farm Sanctuary, through their Farm Animal Adoption Network, we’ve adopted many beings from various situations: neglect; abuse; and or the animal agricultural industry.

Gene’s visit will help share our vision of compassionate living, conscious consumerism, and welfare.

As we often emphasize, our efforts are a community endeavor. It's not just one person but a collective of individuals coming together to make a difference. Whether you support us through donations, volunteer work, auction items, or simply lending a hand around the sanctuary, your contributions matter immensely. We are also grateful to local businesses that donate services, gift donations their generous support.

On this Giving Tuesday, we ask for your continued assistance as we care for the JP animals in need this winter, particularly those with health issues, and special care requirements. The three pigs in the picture above, Beanie, DJ and Dolphin are all on pain medicine for their hooves and joint issues. The upkeep of our sanctuary is a demanding responsibility, and we rely on your kindness and compassion to sustain our efforts. Together, we can make a significant difference.
