The Black Educators Collective is a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting teachers and families in our community. We believe that every student deserves an equal opportunity to succeed and enjoy life, regardless of their socioeconomic background. With that in mind, we are excited to announce the 3rd annual Prom Project, our charitable initiative aimed at ensuring low-income and unhoused students can attend their prom in style.

2024 Recap
Last year, we hosted our second annual prom drive and pop-up shop on April 6, 2024, at the Arthur Capper Center. Here’s what we accomplished:
- We served students from schools across DC, including Eastern High School, Ballou High School, KIPP DC, and Cardoza High School.
- Volunteers acted as “personal shoppers,” helping students find their perfect prom outfits and accessories.
- Our sponsor, Arlet Floral Designs, provided free corsages and boutonnieres for students.
- Students had access to an extensive inventory of FREE dresses, suits, ties, shoes, jewelry, and more!
- The event included goodie bags, photobooths, and delicious food and dessert from a Black-owned business.
2025 Vision
This year, we’re going even bigger! With your help, we aim to serve even more students by expanding our offerings to include vouchers for hair and makeup services, alongside our free dresses, suits, and accessories. Additionally, we’re hosting an in-person fundraiser happy hour where guests can bring donations of dresses, suits, and other goodies, all while participating in a live fundraiser to support this cause.

Your contribution will directly impact the lives of students, giving them the opportunity to feel confident, celebrated, and ready for an unforgettable prom experience.
