A legacy where 160 talented students from Joliet Township High School, across two campuses, come together to share their passion for music.

This isn’t just a commission; it’s a gift that will last a lifetime. A new, original composition will bring our students and community together to experience a piece written for our group and hometown, celebrating our history and inspiring future generations.

This composition is about all of us. Music is a shared experience—an unspoken conversation between performer and audience. Without music, we have no performance. Without an audience, we have no one to share it with. Your support ensures that this connection thrives, allowing us to continue creating, sharing, and celebrating music together.

The Challenge

Commissions like this require time and investment. While the new piece will debut in fall 2025 for our 120th anniversary, composers need 6 months to a year to complete a work of this scale. That’s why we’re fundraising now—to give the composer the resources they need to create something extraordinary for our students.

As a Title I school district, over 70% of our students come from low-income households, yet they continue to achieve incredible success through their talent and hard work. We believe every student deserves the chance to be part of something this special, and your support helps make it happen.

About the Composer

We chose Kirt Mosier, an internationally acclaimed composer and conductor, to create this special piece. Known for his emotionally rich and dynamic music, Mosier’s works are performed worldwide, earning him multiple national composition awards. His music regularly features at top festivals and conferences, inspiring musicians and audiences alike with its innovation and storytelling.

Special Goals!

🎻 Halfway Harmony Challenge!
If the JTHS OPA reaches 50% of its fundraising goal by Spring Break (March 24, 2025), the students will host a special "Behind the Strings" live rehearsal before the fall premier. Donors will receive exclusive invitation to watch the rehearsal including a Q&A session with the director and students following the performance.

🎻 Full Goal Celebration!
When we reach 100% of our goal, the orchestra will host a special "Supporter’s Serenade" concert. Donors who contribute at any level will receive an exclusive invitation to attend the Grand Finale Concert at Bicentennial Park in Joliet at the end of August, where the piece will be previewed for the first time.
