Now that we have entered the spring season I have chosen to help Police K-9 Capone receive a ballistic vest. Capone is a 1.5 year old Belgian Malinois from the country of Serbia. Capone serves his community of Bucyrus Police Department, Ohio. So far Capone has assisted in Six guns seizures and 39 felony arrests. On November 11, 2022 he was with his handler, Officer Wireman and was involved in shooting where he was in the cruiser as an armed suspect shot a rifle into the cruiser. Thankfully Capone was not hit. Capone's favorite toy is a firehose tug. He is very social and loves to be pet and play fetch with his dispatcher friends. While off duty he enjoys playing in the yard and going for walks. While on duty he likes to help find drugs and guns. Capone protects his streets without body armor so this spring I am helping him receive a ballistic vest that will give his family quite a lot of comfort each time he leaves for work. All extra funds will go to another K9 in our fundraiser waiting for protection.

Police K-9s across the United States have are specifically trained to assist police and other law-enforcement personnel. Their duties include: searching for drugs and explosives, locating missing people, finding crime scene evidence and weapons, apprehending bad guys, and supporting the community by public appearances. What is surprising about the K-9's is they are not automatically issued ballistic vests. Typically they are donated by non-profits or individuals like myself.

I am donating the LOF StreetFighter ballistic vest. These vests are stab proof and bullet proof. What's wonderful about these vests is they can be worn for the dogs entire shift. Each ballistic vest costs $1,200. So this spring I have teamed up with the Non-Profit Organization Brady's K9 Fund. I ask you to help support my mission and help Capone receive a ballistic vest! Brady's K9 Fund is founded by 12 year old Brady Snakovsky from Ohio. When Brady was 8 he was watching one of his favorite police shows on TV. He noticed that many of the K9s were not wearing a ballistic vest like their human partners. That is when he learned that body armor is not automatically issued to dogs. K9 units across the United States are typically run off donations and not by the departments yearly budgets. He didn't like that. He feels all K9s should have body armor issued to them and wanted to offer something to fix the problem. That is when Brady started the non-profit foundation, Brady's K9 Fund. K-9 handlers can simply visit Brady's website and request his help in giving their partner body armor. Since 2018 when BK9F has been started it has raised over $930,000 and have vested 777 dogs across the USA.
