In 1999, a passionate group of Sterling, Illinois business owners and community leaders set out to transform their town, and after years of hard work and determination, Sterling Main Street proudly earned official accreditation from the Illinois Main Street Program in March 2009.

Today, Sterling Main Street continues to thrive, harnessing the power of Main Street America’s Four-Point Approach to revitalize our downtown. This dynamic strategy is custom-tailored to our community, focusing on Design, Organization, Promotion, and Economic Vitality.
