Hello! My name is Keenan Williamson. I am currently a freshman at the University of Maryland College Park, majoring in Information Science. I was a scholar in the IYA2024 cohort and became an IMPACT Ambassador.

My junior year was filled with tension and nervousness for what was the come in my next and final year of high school, the college application process. IMPACTdmv was able to come to my high school and inform us about their college acceptance program. Without hesitation, I quickly signed up and patiently waited for my eventual acceptance. IMPACTdmv gave me the privilege of having helpful templates to aid in outlining my statement, supplemental essays, and scholarship essays; collegiate advisors reviewing the several drafts of my outlines making sure they are the best they can be, and tips and tricks on how to find scholarships and prepare essays for them. There is also resume and interview prep for opportunities that come by during college.

As an IYA2024 scholar, I achieved:

•  Over $190,000 in scholarships

• 10 college acceptances including UMD, Howard, and Morehouse.

On top of the incredible help with the college application process, IMPACTdmv guided me and put me in several situations where I had to lead by example. Becoming an ambassador gave me opportunities to volunteer to help in the progression of other cohorts, philanthropy skills by participating in several fundraisers, and networking skills by attending several events and speaking about what IMPACT has to offer.
