The 2024 school year has been full of community, discovery, and renewed focus! We appreciate that you are a member of our community, and are grateful for your ongoing support of our school. Today we're asking you to donate to APR.

Patrice and Craig who are the parents of Samuel in the 9th grade, and Simon in the 7th grade (Samuel and Simon are pictured above third and fourth from the left), shared why they choose APR: “We decided together as a family that this is the one - APR is our school. Some of the big deciding factors were the beautiful facilities and the warmth of community. As parents, it warms our hearts to see Samuel and Simon off to school everyday. They feel great about their decision because they are part of a group of people who partake in a depth and breadth of learning, who care, enjoy sports and clubs, and who make new friends. Sometimes transitions can be overwhelming. This one was not because the community is strong.”

Our priorities this year are strategically strengthening our community, and are founded on our unwavering commitment to our students, like Simon and Samuel, who are the next generation of global leaders. As parents Patrice and Craig allude to, APR provides all students with a broad range of programming and supports like: 1. Enrichment, including clubs like Thespians and Robotics; 2. Continued cultivation of high quality curriculum; and 3. Our signature China Exchange Program. These programs are made possible by generous gifts from supporters like you.

Now, more than ever, we need your help to ensure that students have access to these opportunities that make APR so special. Symbolic examples of what your gift makes possible are:

$1,000 sponsors the Robotics Team’s registration fee for one district event
$500 purchases two Chromebooks for students
$250 provides 10 student tickets to cultural sites in Beijing
$100 supports hundreds of students to engage in APR’s 22 enrichment clubs
$50 ensures that a student has art supplies they need for the next semester

Gifts of all sizes have a positive impact. When you make a gift, you will directly help provide a student with the opportunity to participate in this programming because tax dollars fund our core academic program and it is your support that builds a robust world-class education for our students.

This current year of continued post-pandemic recovery we have further increased services and programs that holistically support our students for their empowerment and growth. It takes a village to realize this vision. Patrice and Craig continue: “At the end of the day, we often ask: ‘How was school?’ And every day our two students say ‘It was great! We joined a club!’ We also appreciate teachers’ great communication because we’re all ensuring that our students thrive.”

More about APR: The school is nationally recognized and tuition-free. Students enter through a lottery. We are both a middle school and a high school with 467 students in grades 5 through 12. Our mission is to empower students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds to achieve their full intellectual and social potential.

Over the years, staff members at APR have worked to carry the APR legacy of excellence forward and cultivate an environment in which students develop Focused Minds and Big Hearts in identity-affirming classroom communities while grappling with intellectually affirming curricula across disciplines.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have been able to realize great outcomes including the following highlights:

300+ students and faculty have visited China on exchange trips over the past 21 years. During the pandemic, students met virtually with students at Beijing #80, APR's sister school
70% of APR alumni graduate from college--four times higher than the national average
774 alumni (from 21 graduating classes) have graduated from Boston College, Smith College, Dartmouth College, Brown University, Howard University, Northeastern University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and many, many others
High School juniors and seniors enroll in college courses through our dual-enrollment program

Here are three recent examples of our work in action:
Last month students and staff established 22 clubs that are engaging hundreds of students every day in alignment with our priority of strengthening our Culture of Achievement.

This month 10 China Exchange Students are preparing for their 2024 trip to China through advanced studies and in-depth workshops.

Next month we will dedicate a community space at APR to honor and celebrate our 20 year partnership with the Posse Foundation. Over these two decades, they have provided $4 Million in full-tuition college scholarships for APR graduates. Since our founding through to today, we provide exceptional, individualized college placement for each student.
