Lift the Darkness of Winter with Lumina 2025

Lumina is a vibrant winter celebration of light, art, and community during the darkest days of the season. From February 1st to 17th, downtown Providence will come alive with dazzling illuminated art installations by both local and international artists, pop-up performances, and a variety of winter fun. This free, family-friendly festival invites everyone to shake off the chill of midwinter, come together, and celebrate the creative spirit of our city.

In 2025, we’re excited to introduce the POP! Installation and musical experiences by LeMounde Studios downtown along with captivating performances throughout the festival. We’re also inviting local artists to showcase public art centered on illumination, adding their unique touch to the festival.

We can’t wait to build these new installations with our community, and we are actively seeking sponsorships to help bring these vibrant creations to life. With your support, we can continue to lift the darkness of winter and create a magical experience for all.

Illuminated Art from Rhode Island Artists: We are inviting local artists to create illuminated installations for both indoor and outdoor locations throughout downtown. Final selections will be announced this winter.

Programming: We are planning a dynamic schedule of programs to engage visitors of all ages. Last year’s programs included appearances by Big Nazo, the Extraordinary Rendition Band and the Providence Drum Troupe, Rhode Island Black Storytellers, and international figure skating group Le Patin. All core programming will free of charge.

Lumina 2024 Success by the Numbers:

Attendance: Over 300,000 attendees across the month-long festival.
Art and Experiences: Nearly 30 art installations and performances, turning downtown into a dynamic canvas.
Economic Impact: Generated several million dollars for the local economy, benefiting businesses and community organizations.
Media Coverage: Featured in the Boston Globe, Rhode Island Monthly, and The Rhode Show, with over 1.5 million online impressions.
