I am a retired 65-year-old mom, former wife, and former marine environmental economist, and now back in Maine after 35 years in Seattle, Washington. I am thrilled to be in my home state and in the town of Sorrento with my pup Roo. I never really hiked until moving to the Pacific Northwest but now an avid peak seeker.....Kilimanjaro, Himalayas, Mt. Rainier, Rockies, Tasmania, and of course the hikes on Mount Desert Island and Hancock and Washington Counties. I would spend all day every day out of doors if I had my druthers, so am happiest when a day includes sailing, pickle ball, and a hike (a trifecta). However, I also enjoy my board works with the Schoodic Institute, volunteer position with WHRL and Darthia Farms, and working on improving my watercolor painting and producing flowers and vegetables in my garden! I am not a person who gets bored.
What Excites Me About This Hike:
I haven't hiked Katahdin since I was 18, and the weather was outrageously bad when we went. I want to be on the top of the State of Maine and breathe the air!
Favorite Trail Snack:
Hummus on rice cakes!!!! With chocolate on top, of course.
